This 3.25-hectare shopping centre required a strip out of 10 tenancies between March 2020 and April 2021. iDemo was contracted to complete the interior demolition by Lanta Interiors and Meka Management.

The split level shopping centre is about an hour’s drive from the iDemo yard in Wiri, so travel was factored into the job’s daily requirements.

The unprecedented nationwide Level 4 lockdown was then announced mid-way through the job. Once the nation was put into Level 3 and work could resume with conditions, iDemo had a response plan in place and altered the way it worked to minimise any risk to its team and the general public.

iDemo set about the partial and full strip outs of the 10 Coast Plaza tenancies including the removal of:

• Ceilings, flooring, walls, joinery and floor coverings
• Shopfronts & glazing

The mall continued to operate throughout the work, so iDemo tailored the way they worked to ensure public safety. 

Signage and barriers went up, the area was kept tidy and dust free and noisy work was carried out after hours in a bid to minimise disruption to surrounding store owners.
